3 Doors Down Singer Brad Arnold Reveals Stage 4 Kidney Cancer Diagnosis (2025)

Three Doors Downlead singer Brad Arnold has revealed he’s been diagnosed with stage 4kidney cancer.

The musician took to his Instagram on Wednesday to share “some not so good news” in a video, adding, “I’ve been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out.”

That’s when Arnold “got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung. And that’s stage 4, and that’s not real good.”

Despite the diagnosis, the “Kryptonite” singer said he has “no fear” going into treatment as he turns to his faith. “We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all, but it is going to force us to cancel our tour this summer and we’re sorry for that,” he said. “And I’d love it if you lift me up in prayer every chance you get.”

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults, making up about 80 percent of all renal cell carcinoma cases, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Arnold also added in the post’s caption, “Thank you for all the memories so far. Now, I believe ‘ITS NOT MY TIME’ is really my song. This’ll be a battle so we need our prayers warriors! Thank y’all for being the best fans in the world. We love y’all! Brad.”

In addition to Arnold, the rock band 3 Doors Down currently comprises members Chris Henderson, Greg Upchurch, Chet Roberts and Justin Biltonen. The group is most known for their songs “Kryptonite,” “When I’m Gone,” “Here Without You,” “Let Me Go” and “It’s Not My Time,” the latter of which the lead singer references in the Instagram video.
